As well as being a keen performer, I also love to teach the
violin. I have been teaching for over fifteen years in schools, colleges and privately from my home. I cover both Staffordshire and Cheshire.
Music should be fun, however learning an instrument as difficult as a violin and practicing such a physically awkward instrument can often be regarded as quite the opposite. My ultimate aim is to ensure that learning the instrument is an enjoyable experience, developing skills that can be used for a life time of music making and subsequently enriching one's life!
Every student is unique and we all learn in different ways. Therefore I believe in adopting an approach that best fits the individual. I don't believe in using one violin method but instead I take the best or most appropriate aspects from a variety of the great traditional methods/schools such as, Suzuki, Rolland, Flesch, etc I focus on developing a solid fundamental technique and the ability for the student to read music efficiently. Giving them the freedom to make music and to become good musicians.
If you are interested in learning the violin whether just for fun or with the view to taking exams please see my contact page for how to get in touch.
